I want you to meet Defensive Coordinator of the Chargers, Jessie Minter.
He finally gets what I have been talking about for years. That the tv broadcast cameras are zooming in on the coaches play cards.
They are not even trying to hide it anymore. We are getting very close up views of all the coach's play cards. Very tight shots of the mouth of the coach calling the play for lip reading purposes. At times, my entire tv screen is just one close up of a coach's head calling a play. Why so close? I do not need to see Andy Reid's big head that close. Further away is fine, but it is done with intent. Doing it so much, all the time, just to make it seem like it's normal for tv viewing. It wasn't always like this.
If the coaches think they are safe in the booth, nope. They have a camera right next to them, showing their cards and mouth as they call the play. Someone is lip reading and getting this information, I just don't know who?
The overhead cable camera is now looking down into the huddle and zooming in on the QB's wristband as he calls a play. And will rotate around the huddle to get the shot if a player is blocking the view.
Dirty referees are one thing. But this coordination with the tv broadcast cameras and the NFL is becoming increasingly alarming. I don't understand how friends and family of coaches that watch football on tv, don't tell them to cover their play cards. Heck, players sitting at home on an off day watching football, should be telling their coaches this. This subject ticks me off so much, that I want to rent a billboard across the street from Saints HQ and say "Cover your freaking play card coach". Something to get people and local news to talk about it more.
But kudos to Jesse. I hope you start a trend Mr. Minter. A revolution.
