Chase Young re-signed to a 3-year, $51 million deal (26 Viewers)

Are you saying that Chase is in the top 10 rated DEs in the NFL. I would say top 5 bc that’s where TJ is rated, but I’m willing to bend

No and he's not getting paid like a top 10 DE. He's getting paid like around a #20 DE which seems about right. And he may end up lower depending on other deals and extensions this year.

And this is the kicker for me.

There are actual people in the fan base and in the media that want the Saints to tank the off-season. The Saints have already declared they don’t intend to. So these types of articles and posts are going to pop up each and every time we make any move.

It’s annoying how bitter people all over the Internet become just because a football team isn’t following THEIR plan. And sometimes you get the feeling that they’re now rooting against the team so that they can say, “See, I was right!”
Yep , they'd rather see the plane crash with them on it because they don't like the pilot

I know what pressures do, but I’ll ask again…… “what did Chase’s pressures lead to”? We are all Saints fans and watched the games. I did not see a great deal of pressures from him, that led to anything noteworthy.
Here's a few noteworthy plays you must not have seen:

18 out of 766 snaps.

He dominates 2% of the time, every time.
This type of response was expected.

The poster I responded to said, "I did not see a great deal of pressures from him, that led to anything noteworthy." That means he never saw Young's pressures lead to anything noteworthy.

The video I posted does in fact show several plays in which Young's pressures did lead to noteworthy things. That's the only thing I was pointing out with the video.

Understand now?

That video you posted was a good number of run plays (one was a dubious reverse), his sacks, a couple of him joining in after Granderson got to the QB, a couple of deflections, etc.
Look, I’ll say this once again, for our sake, I hope this dude somehow figures out how to be the player that everyone hopes he should be. As of right now, this very moment, he has been underwhelming for a guy who has all of the darn traits, size, and measurables that make defensive coaches drool. Yall don’t need to try and force people to believe that he was something that he wasn’t. We all have hope. My hope is very slim from what I saw, while some of yall have high hope. Now, I will use the same mindset for Chase, like I had for Trevor Penning last year…….we will have to make it work. He got his money, now it’s time to put up or shut up. Fingers, toes, eyes, and 🏈🏈s crossed for him and us.

The video showed 2% of his snaps. You could put together a cherry picked highlight reel of any defensive end in the nfl, or college or high school and say “his pressures did lead to noteworthy things”.

Thats like showing a trequan smith highlight reel and saying his touchdowns led to noteworthy things.

He is a former #2 overall pick, on his 3rd team in 5 years. He had 5.5 sacks last year. Don’t make it out to be more than that.

In his first 5 seasons, he has 22 sacks. In the first 5 seasons we had Marcus Davenport, he had 21.5. Undrafted Carl Granderson had 23 his first 5 seasons, and he was a rotational DE his first 4.

he's paid like the 20th best DE, and is close to the youngest in the top 30 (Greg Rousseau younger) of said list.
Whilst he is ~50th for sacks in the league over the last couple seasons, he is near the top end for QB pressure.

Then you add on the fact that this contract helped clear some space for this season ahead and its a pretty OK deal for us and not really over-paying on the basis of hope. His upside, whilst we certainly cant bank on, is a bonus.
