===============

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota-born Mexican restaurant chain CHI-CHI's is making a comeback 20 years after ending its "celebration of food."

CHI-CHI's announced on Wednesday that a new agreement has been reached with Minnesota's Hormel Foods, which has owned the restaurant's trademarks since 1987.

The deal gives Michael McDermott, the son of CHI-CHI's co-founder Marno McDermott, use of the restaurant name on physical locations set to open in 2025.

CHI-CHI's was founded in 1975 by Marno McDermott and former Green Bay Packer Max McGee, with its first location opening in Richfield in 1976. At one point, there were more than 200 locations across the nation………

Same same, but different .. def not my first non fast food experience- looking at you Pizza Hut in Laplace, Buds Broiler (i wouldnt classify Buds as fast food) and others…. but definitely the first (and possibly only ?) time i ever had fried ice cream which may have been the most delicious thing id ever tasted.. and pretty sure it was the first place i ever had tortilla chips and salsa, either that or up the boulevard at CuCos .

Double Yikes

I had some drinks at a Chi Chis in Paris on a Thanksgiving in the 90s during a trip to Amsterdam. Those were strange times.
This sounds like the set up of a joke

Any time I see a reference to Chi Chis it's bittersweet.....only girl to really break my heart (I deserved it) was a waitress at Chi Chi's at the time (and a Finance student like myself)....

there must have been one in Metry/Kenner because i vaguely remember the place...

but we were a Cuco's family back then so i don't think I ever ate there
