How do you measure a RB? It has to be on the field production. Now before we go purely on stats you do have to consider the team he plays for. Is the Defense stacked against the run? There are also different kinds of greatness. Chris Johnson is one of a kind with his speed. I'm just saying that one of the indicators on how to rank a RB Ivory is a clear 3rd in the league. There are other stats what do you guys think are the important ones for ranking a RB?

I think the most important one is rarely measured: Runs that result in a first down. Yards/carry may be lower on short yardage, but the line will be stacked against you.

Football Outsiders has the best way to grade this with a grading called "Success Rate":

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/rb

The final statistic is Success Rate. This number represents the player's consistency, measured by successful running plays (the definition of success being different based on down and distance) divided by total running plays. A player with higher DVOA and a low success rate mixes long runs with downs getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage. A player with lower DVOA and a high success rate generally gets the yards needed, but doesn't often get more. Success Rate is further explained here. It is not adjusted for opponent.

C.Ivory NO
DVOA 11.4% DVOA Ranking: 8
Success rate: 59% Success Rate Ranking: 1

I think that tells you the most right there.

Cool stat...thanks!

Ivory has played lights out. He literally needs to fix one issue to be a really good back.
