This is every throw or play by White I could find... the good the bad and ugly.

Corey White will be ok. Just was his first year. No one did good in Spags system. The little i saw he did well on some plays and some he didnt. He will flourish in RR system i hope....

Mostly what I saw was an anemic pass rush. That doesn't excuse the missed tackles and the incredible whiff on the stop and go route. The question is whether or not Corey White has enough potential to make it as an NFL cornerback. A lot of us thought Johnny Patrick has some potential, and you see how that turned out. :covri:

Mostly ugly but there is noticeable progress. Hopefully his good plays weren't just flukes.

Sad thing is Johnny Patrick couldnt beat him out.

I thought he showed improvement as the season went on. The only question I have is where is his "ceiling". How much room for further improvement is there? I want to say he is capable of becoming a good NFL cornerback, but I am just a little apprehensive to do so for some reason. I remind myself though that Spag's defense was jsut really bad so in Corey's case it's hard to give a fair assessment from his one season...so as you can tell I don't know what to make of him.

I feel good at Corey White to be honest. There have been worse corners in their first year in the NFL. You could see his play improving on a weekly basis. I do think he'd be better at safety than corner but that's not our call to make. He blitzed well (remember the first play in the San Diego game where he sacked Rivers for an 8-9 yard loss?) and hit hard, and didn't give up when beaten. Get a decent defensive backs coach to work with him and a pass rush to build of of and he could be a very solid contributor.

Draft another cb and let white compete at safety

you know i see ok pressure, but they are leaving wr's wide open or not even covered, defensive backfield is a complete mess, we need some new talent back there too.

white did show improvement in this zone scheme, for an ex safety with no explosion or speed, he did find the right place to stand later in the year, but love to see Xavier Rhodes on our team at CB, or Matt Elam at S,

....I dont think you can say the Spags was the problem then turn around and blame the players...you watch these videos and you see chunks of area to pass the ball in...players arent comfortable in the defense, you see the zone concepts and every time a big play is made you see someone turns a guy lose but that player is never picked up...these are talented players and I cant blame them for playing poorly...but they did play poorly in this defense.

The redskin game on the goal line we blitz Harper and Jenkins. Jenkins went up against a guard and Harper against a fullback Who thought that was a good idea. Everyone on the front 4 was single covered and we couldn't even get a pass rush that is bringing 6 people and they were all picked up!!!!!

Zone coverage is a lot of our problem. Our DBs stink at it. Even when GW was DC, you'd see them get beat on the occasional zone play. Our DBs do better playing man as long as there is some pass rush.
