They are NOT better than filet, but I do agree that strips aren't nearly the best cut of meat.

Protein on it's own really doesn't have much flavor. Meat is good because intramuscular fat gives it flavor. Filet is tender because it is a very worked muscle, therefore by definition, it has very little fat (there are exceptions). That's why filet is the least "meaty" tasting cut of beef and most of the famous filet dishes have some sort of sauce with them (au poivre, bernaise, etc). It has a nice texture, but in an even comparison it is not as good as other cuts as a steak on it's own.

I've cooked filet at home and it was better than the strips I've had.

Actually....it's opposite of that. The less a muscle is worked the more tender it is. You want as far away from the hoof as possible

Ok, this one took a few sips to realize what it reminds me of….back in the day I remember when you could buy those little kool aid packets and make your own kool aid by adding a little sugar. This tastes like that except you didn’t put enough sugar in it. Watery Kool aid. :)

I don't have it in me to drink anymore. I'm more likely to cook with it and as far as drinking maybe a bottle quarterly.

I've decided that hangovers are punishing. I no longer feel the need to punish myself. I take control of the booze rather than the other way round.
