COVID-19 Outbreak Information Updates (Reboot) [over 150.000,000 US cases (est.), 6,422,520 US hospitilizations, 1,148,691 US deaths.]

So that makes this Covid 25?

No.

It's just one of many hundreds of coronaviruses, and one of a smaller number that exhibits a spike protein that allows infection in humans. There is nothing be alarmed about. There is no evidence it has infected anyone, is spreading, causes severe illness, etc. They literally just discovered a virus that has structural similarities to another virus in the same family. We know nothing else about it. Severity of coronaviruses ranges from the common cold to Covid to MERS (35% case fatality rate). It could fall anywhere on that spectrum, but until there's any evidence that anyone actually has it, there's no point in being concerned. There's lot of coronaviruses in animals out there. They discovered one in dogs years ago that can also infect humans. Most people that get MERS and die get it from camels.

This is of scientific and medical interest, but this is not significant news.

The endemicity of Covid is largely agreed upon in the medical community, William Schaffner, a professor of infectious diseases and preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University, told the publication.……
