I'd completely forgotten Payton Turner was still on the roster before this news But as others have noted, oft-injured players do seem to blossom with new teams. He was injured when he first got here, though.

So far every DE that couldn't make it when Nielsen was here has proven to not be able to make it anywhere else. 1 year $3mil for a 26 year old DE says all you need to know about what his new team (and the entire league for that matter) thinks of him as well. That's the kind of contract you give when you're ok cutting a guy in OTAs

He's a redundant player at the position, big (6'5 265) DE with little to no production. I do not believe he or players like him fit the scheme anymore.

We can hope and pray.

Well hopefully the hunt for the "prototypical DE" is gone now that the old regime is totally gone.

Well thank goodness for that. I honestly kept forgetting he was on the team. My wife got me his rookie card for Christmas because it became a running joke whenever I would occasionally catch him on the Saints sidelines.
