this reminds me of something i've long wondered about but never see discussed:
- one of the worst things a body can do after a strenuous workout (in terms of trying to recover) is to sit for a long period of time - 3 hours of sudden burst, violent actions and then getting on a bus/plane for hours makes little sense
-- i bet sports science says a team should probably stretch for 20-30 minutes after the game (and then maybe massage and/or cold tub or hot tube depending)
--- obviously a team a can't do EVERYthing they should to assist recovery time, but i bet there's lots more they could do

-- i also think a lot more could be done on sidelines when other team is on offense/defense - but i also have a hard time picturing a designate yoga area instead of a few stationary bikes

no stone left unturned by this man. We will always be on the cutting edge as long as he is here.
Speaking of that...whatever became of those special mouthpieces we were using a few years back? We were they only ones using them at the time and they were supposed to help curb concussions while allowing the player to communicate more clearer.

When I was a kid, the tough man thing to do was pretend you didn't need sleep. Now, the medical profession realizes how stupid that mindset is. Lack of sleep can lead to serious health issues, and lack of proper rest makes it harder for the mind and body to recover.
yea, and when I played football in HS, you were considered a wuss if you needed water during practice. Our coach probably almost killed some of us out there practicing in August. I can still remember the misery.

Honestly, it seems like a no brainer for any team traveling across country to do it a day earlier to get 24hrs to get acclimated. Iā€™m surprised every NFL team that is in this situation doesnā€™t do so.

So stupid. Good enough to kill some kid.

And the drill sergeants in basic will make you drink it till you puke. Good times.
Beat the heat drill sergeant, beat the heat. šŸ˜ƒ

I wrestled in HS, and we were told to keep our weight down so we could wrestle in a lower weight class against less experienced wrestlers, but grueling 3 hour daily practices without enough food for a growing body doesn't make for the most successful athlete. Lots of bad sports medicine advice going around back in the day.
