CSP following advice of sleep doctor (1 Viewer)

Honestly, it seems like a no brainer for any team traveling across country to do it a day earlier to get 24hrs to get acclimated. I’m surprised every NFL team that is in this situation doesn’t do so.
Same. It's just sound principles of health.

When I was in the service (many many years ago), you were allowed 4 hours of sleep. That was it.

Even when you were awake, you weren't awake. Not really.
You didn't have those nights when you were kept up all night doing push ups, cleaning the barracks, being harassed by the DI? We did in Orlando. The only breaks I remember are when there was a lightning warning and we had to stay indoors and study our manuals. And sometimes it would get so hot, you would get blisters when doing push ups on the black top.

I wrestled in HS, and we were told to keep our weight down so we could wrestle in a lower weight class against less experienced wrestlers, but grueling 3 hour daily practices without enough food for a growing body doesn't make for the most successful athlete. Lots of bad sports medicine advice going around back in the day.
pretty sure my metabolism is still jacked from that
i remember times when i had starved so much that if i did eat something, i would still lose weight bc my body would start burning fuel again (that's what i've kind of pieced together from reading up on severe weight regimines)

i think we just have an owner who doesn't micromanage costs - i imagine more teams on't do it bc it costs one more day to house/feed 100 people

There was always something. Guard duty. A detail. Clean weapons. Clean the latrine. Fire-guard. I figured stuff would get better when I got to my permanent assignment. It did. But only while in garrison. If one went out to the field, it was the same old stuff. Dig a hole, guard this, replace camouflage netting, put out claymores, guard that. Go on a detail.

Talk about tired all the time. 4 hours is all we would get. God help you if you got caught sleeping.

Yea I’m pretty sure she has told them they can have what they want. She proved it last year when she let them stay out west for two weeks. Other than staying the hell out the way (which she also does) it’s all you could ask of an owner.

This sport science thread is why I often shake my head at people who are so quick to scoff at keeping old time players on these all time lists.

Imagine if a Michael Jordan had the advancements today’s athlete has? Now imagine if a LeBron was limited only to what Mike had thirty years ago. Same with the Brady’s Brees’s, Manning’s vs. Montana’s, Marino’s, and Elway’s. Those advancements matter more than most analysts admit.

I’m not saying that any of the current all timers wouldn’t have still been all world back in by gone eras. But, I believe those older players would’ve been even more impressive, if they had access to today’s advancements.

Yeah, I think about how many athletes’ careers were cut short bc cigarettes and beer/whiskey was the pain management system
