Man he was a heck of a QB. Just never won the big one. People say he was a big time jerk too. Never met him so I wouldn’t know the validity of that claim.

Yeah, the Dolphins utterly failed him in his prime by not building a contender around him. I've always went easy on Marino due to how bad those Miami teams were in his prime. They had some of the worst defenses in the league and it's well known that throughout his 17 year career, he only had one single 1,000 yard rusher during that time. There's a game from 1986 where he threw for 400+ yards and 6 TD's and the Dolphins still lost cause their defense was that bad. The 1986 to 1989 Dolphins had a horrible defense similar to our Saints from 2012 and 2014 to 2016.

It's amazing that the Dolphins passed on drafting Thurman Thomas and Terrell Davis. Someone could write an article about their draft history after 1985 and all the busts they had in the first few rounds over those years. Don Shula has admitted in recent years to totally blowing those drafts with his defensive picks.

I respect Dan Marino. And he is the sole reason I think the "Winning a Super Bowl" argument is a bunch of static.

It takes a team effort to win a Super Bowl. Not just a Quarterback. Dan Marino is one of the greatest QBs of all time. 1st ballot Hall of Famer.

But because of his stature of 6'4 and 225 lbs, and a quick release he's the Greatest Passer of All Time?..........

Brees is a 'little man' playing big boy ball. My QB has to stand on his tip toes to see over the lineman. And while doing this he's the only QB to throw over 5,000 yards multiple time, and the most accurate QB in history. But I'm going to drool over a quick release? Please.

Drew's quick release is because he analyzed the play pre-snap , faked the safety, and threw to a spot only the WR could catch it. But because Marino could wait to the last second and throw a dart to a receiver he's the best passer?.......... Nope.

I remember that game, and it was terrible. I agree that he was a heck of a player and had the best quick release that I could remember. I also believe that the Saints had a streak of sacking the QB in each game that went on for a couple of years. Well it ended when we played against Marino.

If he can do that at the time when he retires, then the competitor in him is still going to want to play. I don’t think it ends like that. I think it ends with a Super Bowl victory.

I hope Brees' career ends with a SB win like Manning's did. I don't care about stats or anything in the end. If we win it this year and he decides to hang it up, that's a perfect story book ending.

Thankfully, we will never have to worry about him facing the heat Marino gets for never winning the big one. We have a ring and nothing can take it away.

I remember that game. It was so frustrating trying to get just one sack on him to keep the streak alive....because of how fast he got rid of the ball. And yes that streak ended. Sometime in the mid 90's I believe,
