N/S DE Myles Garrett requested a trade [Myles Garrett signs new 5yr/$204.7 million extension] (15 Viewers)

Everyone say goodbye to Chase Young. He is going to test that market and when he does we will take on $9m in dead cap. We can't take that on AND sign him afterward. Well, I suppose it might be in character to do something like that but no GM worth anything would do that.

Money talks
It does but he basically went on a media run during the Super Bowl, discussing all the reasons why he didn't want to play for the Browns. Also, he was already getting top dollar.

So, have people got to grips with the terminology, now?

When a player 'seeks a trade', it means they're seeking a new deal (and of course more money), primarily from their existing team. It's rarely, if ever about winning.

When a player is 'given permission to seek a trade', it's their existing team saying 'good luck getting something better' and waiting for them to come back to sign their offer sheet, for example Stafford and the Rams. Again, it's about money.

We can sign Chase to a deal around 4/60 and still lower his cap hit from this season. In fact we could realistically sign Chase to a 4/60 (15 per) and Adebo to a 2/22 and structure it to where it only costs us an additional 2.5 million in cap space over what Young’s current cap hit is.

Now if he gets more than 15 million a year let him walk and take the comp pick

Now his purse is even heftier. To quote Nino Brown from New Jack City, money talks and bs runs a marathon...Kmsl

He was the one with the BS, not the team.
