Demario Davis vs Bijan was the matchup ATL wanted. (1 Viewer)

No different than Pederson making the call in the Jags game when he saw Kirk one on one with Matthieu. I think I remember a guy who used exploit those kind of matchups?

Demario Davis being targeted in a matchup hasn’t been common place during his tenure with NO, but the memo might be out on him.

Its likely a combination of Father Time and the knee injury he suffered earlier in the season but Davis is another veteran along w/ Cam Jordan who seems to have been the victim of a steep decline this year.

As much as offense is an issue right now, we’re only an off-season away from the defense needing a retool as well w/ several of its key members on the wrong side of 30.

Reminds me of an old adage, not sure who said it, but "It's better to get rid of a player a year early, than a year late"
Father Time is undefeated.

I agree on the last quote but DD and Cam deserve to go out on their terms imo. They’re the exception.

If by "terms" you mean they are uncuttable then you are correct. DD would be close to 13 million dead cap hit and Jordan's is like 40 million. It would be like the Clowns dumping Ryan and Jones in the same season dead cap wise.

DD isn’t our coverage lineback, that’s what Pete is for. Why we don’t have Pete covering? It’s the same reason nothing else makes sense here.
That play was arse backwards. You should be blitzing DD and have your fast lbs in coverage. I mean, you can mix it up occasionally, but when Robinson is in the backfield, you shouldn't ever have DD in coverage on him.

Werner isn't that much faster. Even he is a mismatch against Robinson.

Werner is the one that has suffered a precipitous drop in my opinion. He routinely misplays the run and cannot cover worth a darn.

I don't know what Werner's stats are, but he seems to be missing a LOT of tackles this year. DD is still getting there, just not getting there first or in time anymore.

Like he isn’t a mismatch for 98% of linebackers in that situation.
For real lol. What LBer in the league do you love in that matchup one on one? Better yet, what LBer in league history do you love in that matchup? Only a handful jump to mind.

Deuce has constantly remarked that Werner has developed a habit (I think it's a bad habit) of undercutting running plays. In other words, he will essentially guess where the RB is going and try to beat a lineman to that spot instead of diagnosing the running play and attacking head on.
