Dennis Allen: It’s time for the growing pains to “be done with” on offense. (No coaching changes) (1 Viewer)

At this point, a slight personnel change would be unnecessary if it’s just brings the team to a 9-8 record. Slightly above mediocrity will keep the OC’s job safe for 2024 while the same results are likely to repeat next season.

Might as well keep everything in place as is and let the games play out how they’re going to. That’ll force an overhaul on the coaching staff while we have a potential top 5-top 8 draft pick to work with for a different staff who knows what to do on offense.

I’m fine with this.

Reality is that Dennis Allen isn’t going to be able to hire a good OC. So the two best options are:

1. This group turns it around and plays to their talent level (however unlikely)

or

2. This whole thing goes down in flames and there’s no choice but to fire DA.

Fans are speaking loud and clear right now. Whatever slack DA may have gotten based on his standing in the organization is going away fast.

I don't know. The narrative from last year was that Dennis was gonna be afforded 3 years. I think it would have to take an awful collapse to get to end this in year 2. If he goes 8-9. I don't think they'll fire him.

If he gets a 3rd year, we have to take a united stance. Boycotts, whatever it takes. This can’t be allowed to continue another season.

I get the 19% of you who wanted to support this for year 2….Maybe you thought supporting the decision was the best you could do. But the longer you let this disease spread, the longer and more improbable it’s going to become to turn it around.

If you love this team, you can’t sit idly by and support this another year. No matter how you feel or felt about Allen, we all need him gone.

Everybody wants to see both DA and Pete fired. But I don't. One thing that's a given with DA is that the defense will be top 10 if not better, and he's been consistent at that. It's not unlike Payton having a good offense and a bad defense in those 7-9 years except that DA doesn't have a HOF QB.

He clearly needs to do something with the offense, but it's not a guarantee that the defense will continue to play at a high level with a new HC. Payton in Denver is a prime example. I think it's less of a risk to stick with DA for another year if he's willing to make changes on offense, than it is to burn it down.

The problem there is trying to find a good, sought-after OC who would be willing to hitch their coaching future to lame-duck DA. Good OC’s aren’t gonna risk that.

Sounds like the same thing we heard about the Jags game.
It’s sad that the offense may have peaked with this coaching staff when they were 2-0. The outlook doesn’t look any better than W-L-L-L-W-L-W-L-W-L the rest of the way. This offense is reading everything on the field in slow motion.

I just want him to make tough decision for the benefit of the team. He knows the offense is struggling and 2 to 3 years of the same struggle? That is where I have a problem with him. Every time he talks it always start out with "well look". His way of saying I have no clue.

This is probably the first time watching the saints that I almost don't care. Dennis Allen is gutless.
I’ll give Allen one thing and that is he is staking his job on ‘doing the same thing’. Sorry to say but this is gonna be a lost year with that attitude and probably would be anyway with the poor offense coaching we have sadly witnessed!

Exactly what high level are we talking about. We’re getting blown out by the good teams and beat up by the bad ones!

screw this, I would prefer seeing 30-50 points a game even if we are getting beat! At least we are watching great action on offense and keeping the ball away so the defense gets rest

I don't agree. He's already made tough decisions in firing coaches that he's worked with for a long time. As for sticking with Pete, name one single Saints player, past or present that hasn't had good things to say about Pete. He's obviously a good coach. Just not now without Brees, and that needs to change. I think DA probably does move on from Pete at the end of the season regardless of the record at the end of the season unless the offense suddenly does a 180.

But changing in the middle of the season probably results in the same record. And, if you are going to move on from Pete, you likely want someone from the outside to be OC, so promoting Curry for half a season doesn't really help because it's still going to be the same scheme. You can't make those kinds of changes mid-season and have it end well.
