Early Depth Chart from Ourlads

2017 New Orleans Saints Depth Chart | Ourlads.com

There's gonna be some position battles starting next month and lasting through August. Don't really agree with some of the position orders here. For example, Gwacham penciled in as the starting LDE? Kikaha behind Anthony at SAM? No way dude!

Went into this wanting to make my guess at what our 53 man roster would look like if the season started today. Gave that up quick. Way too much competition at way too many spots. I think we'll end up cutting some quality players this year... for a change.

I'd like to see us pick up another Full back for camp and practice reps if possible.
No reason for Kuhn to risk injury, we all know he's a beast.

L. Turner should be ahead of J. Fullington
Hooman should be ahead of Hill as long as he is healthy. (I predict a big season from him.)
Okafor should start over Gwacham
DT's are impossible because of Down and Distance but Davidson should be in there on Running plays
LB's....who knows...many of them can play multiple positions so there are way too many possibilites to choose from. I hope Klein can start at MLB.

Ourlads is the best in the business at pre-season depth charts. The reason is that they usually have the incumbants over rookies...and they are usually right. They have Lattimore starting because he's just about a lock to be starting, but the other guys have to earn it.

I think Hooman can masquerade as a FB

True, figured they might use TE's for this, probably wouldn't hurt to get them used to it in case they have to sub in during the season.

Sort of like we did when Evans got injured and replaced him with Thomas.

Payton brought up Hooman as "very strong at the POA" He's already moonlights in the backfield at FB. Thus the reason why we've only got 2. Based on the end of the 2015 season Kikaha will be a DE/Edge guy not a LB. He played on-ball Sam in our under concepts. It's likely we continue to use over concepts in our base fronts under DA to which the SAM is an offball LB. Kikaha definitely is not that.

I really like this team on paper. I don't know if it's a Super Bowl caliber depth chart but it looks a lot better than the depth chart we had at the end of last season.

If you look at the defensive starting lineups that were trotted out there it's amazing that we won 7 games. We had backups and special teamers starting. We had marginal NFL players seeing meaningful snaps. Hell Uncle Rico started a few games at Corner. The fact that we were able to win 7 games with that hodgepodge of players gives me hope about the future. I think DA and our new coaches are going to get this thing turned around.

John Robinson-Woodgett from UMass is a FB even though Ourlads has him listed as a RB.

I don't see Gwacham winning the gig opposite Cam Jordan, even in base sets. Okafor has a leg up IMO. Kikaha if he can come back strong has a good chance, and I think Hendrickson could steal the job. I don't see Gwacham beating out any of those 3.

Ready for OTA's and mini-camp. Can't wait to see these guys suit up. I'll say it again. I think we're going to be cutting some good players this August for a change.

Don't read too much into it. There is no way Moore is behind Calhoun or Anthony is ahead of Klein
