Speculation Despite Bad Stretch of Games, Sam Darnold's Market is Still North of $30M Per Year, According to James Palmer (12 Viewers)

Yeah, that’s going rate for mid level starting QB. Similar player to Carr and he’ll get a similar contract unless the Vikings decide to just put the tag on him to give McCarthy another year to develop.

Even if his market wasn't what Palmer mentioned, I thought he still would have a lot of interest.

classic supply v demand...There is practically nothing available in FA (unsure of trade market) and there are maybe 2-3 guys via the draft this year that could start from day 1...
From a strict cost-to-talent standpoint...I would gamble on Jake Browning for a fraction of the $

There were multiple bad performances by QBs over the weekend. Seems like Darnold’s perceived value took the biggest hit, but Herbert and Love looked just as lost IMO.

Someone will pay Darnold. He showed to be more than capable as a starter, and he’s only 27 years old and probably still has room to get better. There are probably no QBs on the market that you can say that about right now.

Hard to hand out that contract without seeing and knowing if he fits in your scheme/offense. I'm sure someone will though.

He'll have significant interest, especially in a weak QB class. Teams are overpaying for QB, in Darnold it might be justified a bit. He's got 1st roudn pedigree, is still young, and coming off a season that showed he's an above average QB.

The team that got him before he broke out was the smarter team (Vikings) the team that gets him now will have to overpay. It happens

It's funny but that's the market for a bridge QB.
