Speculation Despite Bad Stretch of Games, Sam Darnold's Market is Still North of $30M Per Year, According to James Palmer (13 Viewers)

There were multiple bad performances by QBs over the weekend. Seems like Darnold’s perceived value took the biggest hit, but Herbert and Love looked just as lost IMO.

Someone will pay Darnold. He showed to be more than capable as a starter, and he’s only 27 years old and probably still has room to get better. There are probably no QBs on the market that you can say that about right now.
Both Herbert and Love have had multiple seasons where they've made the postseason or had great statistical seasons consistently, particularly Herbert with LAC since he first arrived in 2020. This was really Sam Darnold's first legitimately good, dominant season as a NFL QB but he still has some nagging "mental" or "developmental" issues regarding him getting happy feet or starts to panic after a few hits or sacks in a game, he becomes overly sensitive to defensive pressure that isn't there ("he hears footsteps "), if his first-or-second reads aren't happen, he freezes, panics, or merely holds on to the ball last night and good defenses like the Rams last night beat the hell out of him.

I'm not entirely sure those mental quirks or deficiencies can be taught or bred out of him by endless practice, offseason work outs or taking more time to study the team's playbook or watch game film of opposing defenses.

Sometimes the floor is more important than the ceiling. Darnold was lost vs the Rams. He couldn't connect on screens he was so flustered. He will get overpaid on a short contract. But no team is signing him for more than 2yr of money.

I've never been a Darnold fan, but I was happy for him that he seemed to turn a corner this year. But man did he sheet the bed the last two weeks. Caveat emptor.
Ben Maller said it best, he thought if Minnesota really believed in Darnold, they would of signed him already.

It is estimated by experts that these last two games costs Darnold 85 to 100M dollars

That's what one good year of production would do for a QB huh?
