Deuce news? (1 Viewer)

When LJ came out of college I predicted him to be the second coming of Eddie George. Wow, did I understate his potential.

As far as the Deuce vs Johnson comparison, there really is none. Johnson is playing at an extremely elite level that Deuce hasn't scratched.

Love Deuce, but comparing him to LJ or LT is unfair.

Put Deuce on one of those teams in the same situation and he would be just as great!
Before Deuce blew his knee most analyst called him the best back in the NFC.

Maybe, the results would be the same if Deuce were on one of those teams, but if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry Christmas.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Deuce is one of my favorites. Got his statue, cards, etc. But point blank, Deuce is not as fast as either of them. That is not debatable IMO. Second, Deuce is not as versatile as LT (Yes, Deuce can catch out of the backfield, but not as well as LT IMHO). Deuce also has not been used in the passing game like LT has, by that I mean LT passes the ball fairly accurately for a RB. I'm not gonna look up his pass stats right now but they are pretty good if memory serves.

Another thing, I have yet to see Deuce take flight like LT does around the goal line. I know, Deuce is a power back, but it speaks to the versatility of LT that he is so complete in all facets of the game.

Deuce and L Johnson share more common ground as far as their abilities, and sure, give a tip of the hat to Johnson's O-Line, but being unbiased, there is no question that LJ is the better back right now.

Much love to Deuce, great guy, heckuva back, etc., just being realistic.

I'll give you all that with LT. He does it on what seems at times to be a sub par team. He may even be a step faster now then Deuce, Deuce was btw considered by many to be drafted best at WR he posted 4.3 40's with a 36" vert. LT is more acceptable a comparison as far as best all around but LJ still has alot to prove durability and character wise. Vermeil did say it was his main concern (character) with LJ.(next T.O. maybe?)

I agree wholeheartedly about LJ. Lot to prove, especially character-wise.

I remember Vermeil saying he needed to "take off the diapers" (paraphrase). Then I saw some film of this season, with him on the sidelines literally being cuddled when something bad happened. Several coaches came up to him and rubbed his back and hugged him (after a fumble maybe?).

Point is, he's still very immature and may very well end up being a mini-TO; world of talent, but lack of maturity.

In all honesty, I would rather have Deuce in Black and Gold instead of LJ, for all of the aforementioned reasons.

No, Deuce cannot carry the ball right now 30 + times, unless you want his knee to explode.

And, when he was at his best he was no where near Larry Johnson's league. When Deuce is at 100%, he's a top 10 back, but LJ and LT are at a different level than every other back in the league........it's not even close!

I don't post much but I couldn't help this one. When Deuce is on top of his game, he's in a different league. Who is larry johnson, what has he done that makes him so special?
