If we do, we should be drafting no higher than 8th in the first round, and I know that people are watching the Jets and Raiders games.

Both the Saints and Carolina finished 5-12. With two exceptions, we had common opponents. We played Green Bay and Cleveland, which collectively won 14 games. Carolina played Cincinnati and Arizona, which collectively won 16 games. Our strength of schedule was not as strong as Carolina's.

DC, thank you. Since the websites are saying so, they must be right. But before I posted, I checked the SOS for the two teams, and it seemed we had the weaker the SOS. I must be doing something wrong, but we and Carolina had common opponents except for two teams--Green Bay and Cleveland for us, Cincinnati and Arizona for Carolina.

It will hurt not drafting higher, but we didn’t slip back any… #9 is better than much lower after this kind of year.

Yes, I am wrong. Carolina has the lower SOS. We had the same opponents except for three. Carolina played Cincinnati, Chicago, and Arizona with collectively 21 wins at the moment.. We played Cleveland, the Rams, and Green Bay with collectively 24 wins. When I first ran the numbers, I overlooked that we played the Rams and Carolina played Chicago.

We played Green Bay(11-6) Cleveland(3-14) and LA Rams (10-7). Overall record 24-27

Would be picking 4th if we lose the Giants game. If we lose the Atlanta game as well, which to be honest I am still amazed we won that game, we would currently have the 1st pick.

Its crazy because those win's will long term be meaningless. It's so unlikely Rizzi gets the job the way the team ended and after this season is done and over with they will just remembered as the games that cost us the 1st pick. Not saying we should root for tanking but just small things being the difference between picking 1st and maybe having a shot to change your franchise forever is crazy.

There really isn't a obvious franchise player #1 overall this year.

We should be glad this didn't happen. It's would of put the Saints in a position to draft a qb who is not a blue chip prospect. We all know the Saints wouldn't trade down for more picks
