Do we get a compensatory pick for Goodwin? (1 Viewer)

I agree.

Rogers: 1y/4m
Franklin: 1y/4m
McB: Undisclosed
Herring: 3y/5m
Hall: 2y/2m
Sproles: 4y/14m
Kreutz: 1y/2m

Ayodele: 4y/9m (4th DT)
Giordano: Undisclosed (Cut and resigned, Backup)
Goody: 3y/10.9m (Starter)
Hargrove: Undisclosed (4th DT)
Wilkerson: 1y/1.5m (IR)
Young: 3y/6m (3rd safety)

Just looking at the dollars, we gained more than we lost. Playtime factors in as well, and we only lost one starter.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Chargers got something nice for Spoles though.

iits REALLY easy but no one ever seems to get it. its a two part process as follows:

count the number of guys you signed, and the number of guys lost (we could lose drew and sign a 3rd string safety, doesnt matter here) --

if you signed more than you lost, you got nothing.

if you signed and lost an equal number of bodies, you are eligible for a 7th

if you lost more than you gained proceed to step two:

line up the players gained and lost as close as you can in corresponding value. find the odd man out - the one, two or three guys that dont have a body canceling them out on the other side (note, not science, just try to get as close as you can in value when doing this, every signing will be cancelled by a loss, you are eligible for 1 pick for every net lost body here) -- THAT LEFTOVER GUY (or guys) -- he determines what your pick is.

from there its pretty easy -- they say a lot goes into it (starting time, awards etc...) its bull. its dollars per year, average. theres possibly no bigger made up line in football than it being a formula based on all that other stuff and i dont get why, but if you sat down with a list of signings you could figure this out today for every team with 100% accuracy. ive seen people do it consistently.

each round will correspond with a rough average that goes up a little each year. its pretty easily predicted, but i dont have numbers in front of me but as an example (numbers made up, but not radically different from actuals)

if the guy is worth (per year)

8+ mill, youll get a 3rd
6-8 youll get a 4th
3-6 you get a 5th,
1-3 you get a 6th
league min guys will get you a 7th

32 picks awarded to the entire league. if there arent enough qualifying guys, you go to the breakeven teams and give them 7th rounders at the end of the draft, based on situations where a high quality player is replaced by lesser (ie if you lose drew and sign a backup safety, youd be eligible for this if you had no other ufas go in or out the door)

if that doesnt round out all 32 picks, you start an 8th round until you hit the 32 extra picks.

i havent looked at this year yet but im pretty sure we get cut off pretty quick having signed a lot more UFA than we lost.

But Fujita was a UFA also and we wound up receiving a 7th for him.

nope, we received a 7 because we had equal number of signings and loses.

if anything, he would have been a 5th i believe (id have to double check but im pretty sure on that), but we signed wilkerson (i believe he was the last in).

you could think of that signing as trading a 5 for wilkerson and a 7
