There was a Mexican band called Caifanes that I really liked in the 90's, but I don't speak Spanish.

I love it...listen to Brazilian all the time. Try a band that sings in a self-written language...

Brazillian...

No words here, but Baden Powell is the best guitarist ever as far as I am concerned.

Yes I do. I've listened to a lot of Ray Barretto, and I don't understand Spanish at all.

I'm sure there's some Metal fans that know of Rammstien, despite the German language, their music is quite fascinating.

Gangham Style.. everyone loves that song... even the old white people at the Saints Game..

People I work with listen to rap and I don't half understand that stuff, and its from here. Another country might be better.

The pop band Mashrou' Leila has taken the Middle East by storm. Pretty cool combination of pop with traditional Middle Eastern sounds.

I feel at a distinct disadvantage when I can't understand a word the singer is saying. But it didn't stop me from listening to "Louie Louie" or R.E.M., and it hasn't stopped me from loving songs like these:

1. El Harba Wine (Arabic protest music meets Bollywood):

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/4R1iQkykxvI?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

2. Jaan Pehechaan Ho (the greatest Bollywood number ever, but maybe no longer as cool since it was in that Heineken commercial):

3. And from this side of the world, my favorite record of 2010, Sunny Duval's nouveau-Rockabilly "Sein Noir, Sein Blanc") (Note 1: I do understand a little French, but I still have no idea what he's singing about, except that it has something to do with breasts, which is always nice.)(Note 2: this video has a couple of microseconds of partial female nudity, so I didn't embed it.)

No, not really. But I do like this song...
