Do you think that a team like the Bears (desperate need of wr to go with Cutler) or the Giants (released Plaxico) might try to package some picks for Meach or Moore?

What pick would you give for Meach? I think I might give a 7th, maybe? He has shown glimpses but nothing proven.

They might try and make a push for Moore. I can see the Giants before the Bears. Bears already lost a first and third this year, I cant see them giving up anymore picks. I think they try and sign someone like Holt or someone that might be released.

You could get more for Meach then Moore but trading Meach for anything less than a 1 would be stupid as for Lance Moore he is worth at most a late 2nd or early 3rd with possibly a late round pick.

Obviously Moore is expendable but Chicago doesn't have a third and they will as the Giants be looking for a big receiver. Chicago's mid 2nd is too high for Moore, and truely the Giant's need is a big redzone capable WR thus eliminating Moore.

On the bright side it is very possible that Moore might go to the Chiefs, Dolphins, Bengals or Browns for early third IF the Saints so choose.

well, we wouldn't be trading Moore. He's a tendered RFA. So, they would have to make him an offer and we'd have to not match in order to get their second.

Meachem is a possibility, but I doubt we trade him.

I don't think the Bears want to get rid of the only other first day draft pick.

Meecham yes, but not Moore:covri:

I'm not getting the logic. Why would a team want Meachem instead of Moore?????

I think a team like Cleveland is more likely to show interest in Moore. They may be in panic mode after the Stallworth debacle.

i still believe the most likely team to be part of a trade for meachem would probably be the raiders... he's what old al always looks for in any player let alone a wide receiver... he's got height and a relative amount of speed... plus i dont think we would accept whatever the bears or giants would offer for him... the raiders have michael bush and could package him with a pick to entice us if they rly want meachem...

Seriously would you honestly as a Saint GM trade for a WR that has 12 career catches. And what would you give up for said player? We all say Meachem showed promise last year. But did he really? We were beat up at WR last year and it was the perfect comming out party for him. Now with Colston back healthy, Shockey looking to be healthy and take on a bigger role, Lance Moore and Brees have just clicked. You can not underplay 2 guys on the same page because a guy (meachem) has shown potential. Moore reinked really should be a top priority for this team. He will come pretty cheap and his production on the field is there. Dosen't matter how ya get the shot, its what ya do with it. Product of the system and QB (which does have a little to do with it)? Well wouldn't Meachem already have shown up if it was the system and Brees?

Meachem has the ability to turn it around, but until he does he can not be counted on to do anything. SO how much would you give up for say Dwayne Jarrett? Meachems value is similar reguardless if he came to us Via 1st rounder. He is not gonna fetch that in a trade.

To some it up, we have Moore on the table tendered, if a team would be willing to give up a 2nd he would be gone. Considering (and I mean this) he had a 1st round value to this team last year, I think a 2nd would be a step back for us because we have a hole at the 2 wide spot now, so I can not see a sign and deal him for less type situation (3rd or 4th). He will be a saint IMO.

Meachem, well not sure what he would get ya back in value. He has done nothing. What are ya gonna trade and get back a 6th. In that situation Meachem would probably outweigh what he could fetch. His has not shown much. We maybe could find a gem in the 6th with the pick. But what if he does turn it on and just is a late bloomer, while his current value is bad, the potential is there.

How is Moore obviously expendable. But Meachem is not. FYI I would run to the bank with a 2nd for Meach. He has shown nothing to warrent a 1st rounder.

Take where they where drafted or aquired and put it aside. Has Meachem really outplayed Moore? In any aspect of the game?

I think Meachem has more potential than Moore, but Moore has performed admirably. NOT worth a 2nd round pick, so if someone signed him to a big contract? Not sure if it would be worth matching it. I hate to say that... but I think Moore is a good Welker type quick route runner. His YAC do not add up to him being a real #1 guy. I hope I'm wrong and we keep him for years to come and he goes to the HOF, but I just don't see it so far....

I think Peyton and Drew Brees make WRs look good, the same way that the old Shanahan and zone blocking Broncos made RBs look good.

Meach has the speed (to get separation), strength (which makes him effective in terms of YAC, running the ball, or blocking). Meach has the ability to go up and take the ball away from a defender(s) while it is in the air and additionally has upside Moore could only dream about.

Moore is expendable because Drew can make this offense work with just about anybody, and finding an adequate possession WR is not that difficult though Moores hands are exceptional.

Moore is good don't get me wrong but he doesn't get much separation and if not for the pin point accuracy of Drew in the short passing game Moore might very well struggle.

Yet he has done nothing at the next level with any of these skills. On paper he has all the measurables over Moore. But will beats skill everytime. Moore has shown the abiltiy to get open and make the tough catches when his number is called. He will never be the athlete Meach is. Heck Marvin Harrison or Jerry Rice will never be the atheltes on paper that Meachem is. But its a different game when the pads go on and measurables are thrown out the window.

Again, to this I say. If Brees can do this with anyone... why didn't he just do it with Meachem last year? If he is the better option hands down (according to your post) Why would Drew just not make the kid with better potential the main man. Instead when Colston went down and we needed some to step up he put his trust in Lance Moore, I am not gonna be one to question Drew Brees.

Production says Meachem is not very good. So the fact that Moore is good tells me he is less expendable than Meachem. We do have Drew Brees and will again next year, and the year after that, and hopefully until he hangs em up, so "if not for him" will not be a valid point in this case.

If he can do it with anyone why hasn't he done it with Meach already?

It takes time to develop even Moore with his obvious limitations took time to develop, and he had the benefit of being healthy and not being under the pressure of a 1st round expectation (nor good depth in front of him). IMO Meach is going to progress this year and the next to the point these premature and unwise "trade Meach" posts will disappear thankfully,

This thread gives me a headache.

You don't trade away your first rounders after 1 year on the field.

Well I agree that we should not trade him.

But I was just curious why you thought Meachems value still sits as a first rounder, where Moores is a 3rd or 4th if we are lucky. Meachem was barely a first rounder to begin with and almost fell to the 2nd round anyways. And has not done anything to increase that value over the last 2 years.

Also isn't Meachem on the same team as Moore. How can you site weak WRs in front of Moore as contributing to his success. But not slide that over into Meachem's benefit as well. or whatever (nor good depth in front of him) was supposed to mean.
