If Young continues to improve and show he can still play at his Ohio State level, do yall trust to give him the contract it is going to take to keep him? I would love to see him step right into Cam's spot. He is still a young cat at 25 and could have 5 solid/great season in him. If he continues to ball out its is going to take a lot to keep him in black and gold.

Sure, if we can afford it. He's clearly a difference maker.

I think that is my biggest concern. We wont be able to match what he can get elsewhere. Maybe he builds a bond here and appreciates the Saints for taking a chance. Maybe he is willing to take a mil or two less to stay.

Don’t forget that neck injuries just don’t go away magically in the NFL. Not saying that I would not pay him, but it would be something that I would have concerns with.

Yes we will. IF he balls out the rest of the season, then it's as simple as applying the franchise tag.
That is, IF, and also pending us not being able to work out a deal. I am guessing both parties would negotiate willingly, so long as he likes it here...which IF he has that great season, then I am forecasting that he would want to stay.

Is it ok if I wait more than one week to answer this?

I don't think his issue has ever been effort or desire so I'm not concerned that he'd get his money and coast. He just has some bad injury luck so as long as they write in some protection then I'd like to keep him.

Pretty sure they can write a contract, that if he hits certain milestones (like games played) he gets a bonus.

He's got to stay healthy.

I wouldn't pay him, but only for my own philosophy w/ Passrushers.

A lot of teams are running quick game offenses now. Meaning that edge rusher outside of a handful snaps a game don't have a huge impact from snap to snap. For instance I don't believe our Dline will be as imporant as our secondary vs Dalllas because DAK isn't holding the ball 3+ seconds. There were 6-7 snaps that Myles Garrett really impacted Dak.

What I will say is that I would build a defense outside in. AKA pay secondary players and try to find impactful DT's that can get to the passer from the interior. Then find DE's like young in the Bargain bin, while trying to draft an impact guy.

Too soon. Let's get through the season and have a complete body of work before we evaluate.

Still a long season ahead of us. Let's see him break his rookie numbers as well as consistently setting and controlling the edge before we talk about contract numbers.

That said, the fit is good for both side. Young and Granderson would be a good tandem once Cam retires. We know Foskey and Turner ain't it.
