Does Turbotax suck for everybody? (1 Viewer)

I think this is the 5th year I've used TurboTax. I prefer it to TaxAct and some of the other apps because it does a better job of asking you questions and helping you find deductions. My income really went up for 2008 but is going to drop in 2007 because my wife is leaving her job so we can work on our adoption process. Every penny is gonna count for this one....

My parents filed with TurboTax last year. The problem is, TurboTax never actually filed their taxes, and they got hit with a penalty. I guess they learned their lesson because they went with the old-fashioned accountant this year, who ended up saving them money

Well, TurboTax doesn't actually file your taxes, you do. All Turbo Tax does is provide a convenient way to enter the information and find deductions. Once that's done, you file your return, not them. That my have been their problem.

I use TaxAct. Never had a problem with them.

I used TurboTax for two years and no problems. If you have State Farm insurance, they offer TurboTax for free to their customers. I eFiled the tax and get the refund in less than two weeks. In order to avoid the problems of upgrading, I used online TurboTax instead of installing the program in my computer.
