First off I’d like to obviously point out the kid is a winner. The moment never too big nor the spotlights too bright. He’s faced adversity and come back better , made corrections and triumphed. There’s more we know about his resolve than all the other Quarterbacks in this draft. He’s got that Joe Burrow kinda vibe to him. And I know how much yall hate that he isn’t our Quarterback.

Secondly , I absolutely love our hiring of Klint Kubiak. But I have some questions about just what Loomis had to say to sell him on the job. No doubt there were other suitors who must’ve offered similar deals. He was highly sought after. He couldn’t have come here with the whole thing hinging on Derek Carr and Dennis Allen because they aren’t quite the sales pitch anyone with Head Coaching ambitions would stake their reputation on. There had to be more , he had to have been told he would be apart of what may come if and when they are dismissed , and to me that may mean Loomis ( Clearly playful speculation ) let him know we would be drafting a QB this year to grow into his offense whether DA and Carr stay or go. That he and the new QB were apart of the future regardless of our current state. And obviously that would position him quite well to be the successor to a disappointing Allen tenure. How does that relate to JJ ? Well , I think he’d be the perfect practitioner for Kubiaks offense. Cerebral , Athletic , Mobile , Accurate , Huge Arm , Intangibles galore.

Third , with Carr slated to be here for a couple years it gives JJ time to get acclimated to the NFL and this offense. More quarterbacks are broken than made on trial by fire basis. Carr can be our Alex Smith. Only time will tell if we ever find out Mahomes.

Fourthly while on the subject of one Patrick Mahomes , I’d like to painfully point out that we missed out on him trying to give extend Drews run at another Super Bowl which was totally understandable. He’s one of the greatest Quarterbacks to ever take a snap. But let’s be honest here , Derek’s not Drew and to put it nicely Carrs not worth missing out on the next franchise QB for. Don’t miss out on a wife because you have a girlfriend 😅

Lastly , id like to point out we go through this every year. Every year there’s a consensus best QB in the draft class , and nearly every year they are flat out wrong and we all laugh and joke about it. I’m telling you now , this years no exception. I’m not saying Caleb isn’t that guy or knocking any of those other guys. But in a real world open interview for a national championship , JJ beat em all and was the last man standing. Just saying !

Hard for me to buy him as a "winner" since Michigan didn't win because of him.

Not sure if you watched the Natty but Michigan tried their best to keep the ball out of his hands.

He's young and definitely has promise im just not sold.

Well I did wanted him but watched the national championship and there are some things he still needs to work on.

Michigans defense was destroying Pennix and there was no reason to risk anything by throwing the ball. They played the game that was in front of them instead of insisting on running their “ offense “. That’s how the Falcons lost the Super Bowl.

The most important thing is he didn’t lose them the game. The game before he made huge play after huge play to beat Alabama in a thriller because it was required of him. That is also the hallmark of a great quarterback , knowing when and when not to !

He would be an intriguing prospect in Kubiak’s offense. He’s a good athlete and ran a lot of play action and bootleg at Michigan. Unfortunately we can’t afford a QB early in the draft. Too many other glaring needs.

If they spend a 2nd round pick on him I won’t be mad. He’s like a Jalen Hurst kinda player. Put a good team around him and he can make plays.

The issue i have with that is after the second round i don’t think we have a pick until the 5th round unless we can trade back somehow. We need someone in the second round who can play right away.

Michigan is my 2nd favorite team (after LSU) and while I do like JJ, Michigan never really needed him to be engine that runs the team. Against Penn St. JJ only had 6 passes all in the 1st half. He had one pass in the 2nd half which was negated by a PI.

I’m not saying JJ can’t be a good NFL QB but I don’t think he’ll be year one ready. If the plan is to sit him behind DC and develop him to take over after DC’s contract then I can get behind it if we draft him in the 2nd but I would not use a 1st on him.

I think that's the plan if we do draft any quarterback , regardless if he is a first rounder or not.

I’ve never been on the fence regarding a college QB more than JJ. I want to like this kid so bad, but he did next to nothing against ranked teams this year. Sure they won every game, but this dude has to show me something. 4 passing TDs in 5 games against ranked teams. However, there is something intriguing about him as a prospect.

It’s hard to really project what kind of player he will be because Michigan was so run heavy and protected him well with that dominant o-line. He was not asked to do a lot, but you can see the talent is there. Sort of like Brock Purdy in a way. If jj gets drafted to the right team he could have a solid NFL career. He’s just to risky to me even in the 2nd round.

Agreed. They were too dominant with their defense and run game, that they didn’t do JJ any favors for his draft stock. The fact that he is not staying in school, tells me that he is confident in his abilities, which I respect the heck out of. If we had multiple 2nd rd picks or multiple 3rd rd picks, then I would definitely take him in the 2nd, but not having a 3rd or 4th rd pick, I wouldn’t take him. I can see Seattle or Denver taking him in the 2nd rd.

EDIT:

On 2nd thought. I’d take him in the 2nd. He may be exactly what we need for our future at QB. Sometimes you just have to roll the dice and take the chance. Plus, he wears #9 and moves well in the pocket like a #9 we are all familiar with
