Saints quarterback Drew Brees on Monday morning (Jan. 28) encouraged fans to channel their frustration into positivity after the team’s controversial NFC Championship loss. His Instagram post on his verified account is the first time he’s commented extensively about his feelings since his postgame press conference.
“I’ve spent this last week navigating the heartache and disappointment from the game,” he posted on Instagram, along with photo of his teammates. “I refuse to let this create any negativity or resentment. I embrace the challenge. So keep your chin up, hold your head high, puff your chest out because WE are the Who Dat Nation and WE will always persevere.”
Saints fans remain angry about a disputed non-call by game officials in the final minutes of regulation of the championship game. A pass-interference penalty against the Los Angeles Rams went uncalled and they beat the Saints in overtime to reach the Super Bowl. The non-call was not reviewable. ...
