Saints Drew Brees for MVP? (1 Viewer)

Things you can witness on the SSF:

Few weeks back: "I love Drew, but it's time"....."Brees is holding back our offense"

Today: Drew as an MVP possibility???

Popcorn society, indeed.

Speaking of, where are those loud mouths that were ranting about how Brees is "done", anyway??

Ye I think Drew quieted alot of doubters. Im proud to say I have stood by Drew. Even his worst game The Raiders one was a good game. Many players would take that stat line.

Brees is playing solid this year, but he's not in the MVP discussion. Nor should he be. Especially when you consider the years he really was in the discussions, he wasn't.

Kamara is our best MVP candidate, but QBs seem to get the nod. And in the running back category, Derrick Henry is a challenger for that. Look at the monster numbers CMc put up last year for Carolina. It's hard for any position other than QB to get a fair shake.

Makes you glad those knee jerk reaction fans aren't in charge 😂

Brees is not MVP of the NFL, but he is MVP of the Saints and will forever be great in my eyes. At this point, he still disects them defenses like chopped liver. We just need our defense to step up just a little. I mean, at least top 20 defense and we can have another ring. It's up to the defense how far we go.

TB12 has thrown 4 pics this year, but two of them returned for touchdowns.

Wilson can't have one tough game and be an MVP??

As far as Rodgers goes....the guy seems to totally mentally abandon football games if they get behind early. That game against Tampa....no, no MVP for him. You can have a bad game, you can lose, all that is fine. You absolutely cannot just give up and be an MVP.

Dude. I said as of now. It's not a sprint. These list will change. And yes Russell has to fall a little, at least for the week. He has 6 INTs. That's a lot for someone leading the pack. I'm with you on Rodgers completely abandoning games when they get behind. The thing, that isn't very often the last year and half. He has 17 TDs and just 2 int.

Also Brady does have 4 INT. What of it? That's less than Wilson but he has a few less TDs. As you noticed I put Brady under Wilson.

Dude it's called "Most Valuable Player" not "Most Efficient Player". Not sure why you're factoring interceptions so high in your ranking. Honest question: Why are interceptions so important in your mind to who wins MVP???

No QB is doing more with less this year, that's why Wilson should be MVP if he keeps this up. Just my opinion.

MVP is a marathon, not a sprint.

Actually, I think we've all seen that the MVP is basically awarded by week 8 and everything else is ignored after that. Drew had MVP level seasons in 2006, 2009, 2011, 2018 and maybe a few others. Each season he lost to guys who had great seasons but mostly won because they started red hot and won "the sprint" whereas Drew perhaps had a better marathon.

Wilson is the MVP this year - but if he keeps up his current level of play and creates some distance on the TD record, Brady I think will win MVP...which kind of goes against what I said somewhat - but Brady is like Manning (when in doubt...give it to Brady).

Hate to say it like this but if he has t won by now it most likely won’t happen. It’s ridiculous that Scam Newton has won MVP and Brees has gotten robbed year in and out.

If he performs in these next two road games(Chicago and Tampa) like he has the last 4, Drew has to be in the conversation for MVP. Since week 2 he has passed for close to 300 yards a game and been lights out.

Drew also has done what MVPs do, that is put their team on thier back. He has been able to lead his team to victories despite an Injury to M.T and this last game without Sanders. Not too many QBs could lead their team to victory without their two top WRs on such short notice as Drew did. Not only did the Saints win yesterday but Drew was dominant. Im not even sure Mahomes could do that if you took his two best weapons away.
Let's get past Chicago first.

Okay I know this is a Saints forum but objectively I don't see how you can put Drew ahead of Wilson this season for the MVP hunt.

Having said that there is a Saint whom should probably be in the conversation for this: Alvin Kamara!
Yea, if Brees were to win it this year he should give the trophy to Kamara. Or at the very least, give Kamara a replica, and then cross out "2020" and write "2009" "2011" or "2018" on his own.

I mean, look at the YAC yards for Kamara this year. 50% more than anyone else in the league, and in one game less than half the league.

Kamara needs a couple of monster games to get into the MVP race. We also have to win the division. He is averaging 137 yards from scrimmage. Curtis Johnson has the all time record with 156. CMC was at 126 last year. A couple of huge plays for ESPN and weeks where he breaks 175 will put him in the conversation. If he gets into the 150s then he should win offensive player of the year at least.

I'll save you the heartache:

I love Drew and it seems like he's got the offense on fire again, but the media already made up it's mind - Drew is done and Brady looks like a God.

The morons didn't even realize that the Saints already took a bye week when Brady pulled ahead in TD's yesterday.
