NFL Draft DT Kenneth Grant and a bit of a mock draft (82 Viewers)

DT is my # 2 need and Grant is my 2nd choice after Graham.
There 3 players that are there @9 that would not hesitate T-Mac, Carter and Graham. After that is gets muddy. If none are there I hope we trade back about 8-10 spots and pick up a 2nd and maybe a 3rd. Then if Warren is there I'm taking him. Grant is my next target , hopefully in the 2nd I might even consider trading a couple spots with the capital I got for #9 for him

My next target is Tre Harris , almost on the same level as Grant . If I miss on Harris my next 2 WRs are HIggins or Savion Williams. Williams may be one of the most interesting WRs in the draft . 6'5" 225lbs and can run from the wildcat

This is the type of draft you’re referring to, and I also think it would help to relaunch this organization as a Mecca of young talent. I know a couple of the guys I drafted here won’t be available (Zabel could end up being a late 1st early 2nd rounder for example), but it’s always fun to imagine.

Here's a blurb from Walter Football who's website is horrific but I like that Charlie Campbell has actual team sources. They think Grant could be in play in the top 10 and I agree. He has extremely rare gifts.:

  • The 2025 NFL Draft is loaded on the defensive line with good prospects at defensive end and defensive tackle for the first two days of the draft. Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham has been a media favorite to be a top-10 pick, but multiple team sources say they think Graham is more likely to go in the 11-20 range. After scouting Graham in person, they say he has a terrible body that looks like “the marshmallow man.” They think when general managers and head coaches see the physical makeup that could push Graham outside the top 10 and into the teens.
  • Graham’s teammate Kenneth Grant has not gotten as much media hype, but multiple team sources have Grant as the better prospect. They feel that Grant has a better skill set with more upside. Those sources feel that Grant could go ahead of Graham, and Grant has a shot at being a top-10 pick.

This is correct. People put way to much stock in things like PFF, or mock draft simulators and often don't come up with their own opinions. Walker and Grant are both first round talents. Walker is making it that high because of size and athleticism and coaches will believe they can train him to be better. The guy was quite literally carrying the kentucky defense. Grant is in play for teens. I don't suspect he'll make it top 10, but if he's gone by 18 don't be surprised. He's the best true NT in this draft and a needy team will always try to get ahead of others. The people who do these drafts and make these choices are still people and get FOMO at times.

Other talent that people are discluding from the first round that are real first round players :

Jaxson Dart (yes, I made a post about him sneaking into the first round well before senior bowl practices)
Jack Sawyer
Landon Jackson

Some other talent that will go earlier then most people beleive

Jay Higgins (absolutely perfect to man the middle of a 3-4 defense and will be better than Patrick Queen)
Luke Lachey (people forget he was absolutely a 1 man catching machine prior to the 2023 season he spent on IR. Had a solid 2024 season but his QB was dogwater)
Yahya Black
Jason Marshall Jr
Jeremiah Cooper (draft sites have has UDFA and it makes zero sense. Don't be surprised to see him in the 4th)
Sonny Styles
Jake Majors (this guy should not make it to the 4th round at all)
Skattebo (late 3rd/early 4th round pick makes me laugh. He'll probably be the 2nd or 3rd back off the board)
Raheim Sanders (this guy was a 1 man monster with a lackluser offensive line. South Carolina were good because of him on offense and the defense was super solid)
