I know it's been mentioned every week that Vilma's been out but he is a Thumper at MLB. He probably gives up 40-60lbs to Jacobs yet stuffed him in the backfield and made some very good tackles. He may not be the best coverage MLB but that should come with time and experience. I'm not saying he should replace Vilma but i'm starting to come around to the try Vilma at OLB and see how that works. Vilma can still be the captain and make all the calls but we need the best players on the field and Dunbar can't play OLB very well but is looking good in the middle. Vilma's knock has always been his inability to take on blocks so putting him at WLB would be the ideal position. Vilma is a very smart and athletic LB and is the kind of guy that's willing to help his team anyway possible. I know he's always been a MLB in the NFL but I think he played OLB in college. We need Vilma on the field cause our passing D is getting torched without him and he is so valuable in calling plays and making adjustments and in coverage. But I just wanted to give Dunbar some love for filling in nicely for Vilma.

I'm with you. This D is a notch better without Vilma in the middle, regardless of the reasons.

The Saints Nation loves Vilma and always will.

We are 4-0 with Dunbar starting this year and 4-3 with Vilma. Rich - like you said, "Regardless of the reason." Dunbar is far more athletic than JV with a banged up knee and maybe aging a bit.

I was going to make a post saying that Dunbar and Jacobs were closer to the same weight that 40-60 pounds... but after looking it up... you're right.

Jacobs ~265
Dunbar ~225
