Eagles AHC/RB coach Jemal Singleton interviewed for Saints Offensive Coordinator (6 Viewers)

Hold on, I'm sure I've read something about how we had missed all the good coaches by being last to hire our HC...
More than half of everyone we’re interview is coming from one team. A good team, but it’s one team. One other guy took a job with another team already but a lesser job than he’s interviewing for here. Let’s not pretend that there is some vast availability of coaches left.

Yeah but it might be that the Saints only need one team. One good team!
And then the rest will be lagniappe.

:hihi:

So looks like it would be between :

Jemal Singleton (49) - RB coach
Robert Prince (59) - WR coach
Doug Nussmeier (54) - QB coach

All 3 of these guys interviewed for OC?

My initial thought with Singleton was that Moore would not bring in his guy and then not offer him the job. But if the other 2 already interviewed/scheduled then that would not be the case.

I'm pulling for Singleton.

That's true, but that's usually the case when a guy leaves another team. He will usually bring guys that he worked with. He got one from Dallas. Maybe he missed out on some other Dallas or Charger guys but I'm not sure.

In the end, it's an issue, but I think we will be fine. I'm sure you read the big article Underhill did over the weekend about the success rate of early vs. late hires. I'm not sure you can really conclude that it's an advantage like his results seem to show, but it's certainly not a huge disadvantage whatever the particulars of coaches you can or can't get.

I think the biggest issue may be that the DC options are limited but he might have always gone with Staley or the guys he is looking at anyway.

And as already noted, nice new Avatar. I've always been a bigger fan of that Elvis than the original.

I kind of assumed that Nuss, Sr. would get the OC job, but now I'm not so sure.

Actually we don't need to pretend.

There's literally a vast number of coaches out there and the profile and quality of candidates (that's the view of a majority, not just me) is bearing out that actually there are more than enough coaches to fill the posts we have.

Whether it's from one team or a hundred matters not. The ability of a coach isn't defined solely by their surroundings.

And to complain about a coach dipping back into the well he most recently sprang from, one of the most common things a newly appointed coach does, when that team also happens to be the current NFL champions, had to be one of the most obtuse attempts to find fault I've seen recently. And I read this forum, so that's quite a statement.

The largest number of coaches find jobs in the first couple of weeks after the season. It's math. We waited for a good reason in getting a Super Bowl winning coach who hung 40 on the two time consecutive champs. But that DOES shrink the pool of available coaches.

And I complained about nothing, I just stated a fact.

The above is what you said. Comprehensively untrue. Use better words/concepts and you won't get immediately disagreed with by multiple replies like the above post just did.

You used going to the SB champion for coaches as some kind of negative. Again, that was asking for disagreement.

It's very possible that one or more of them is in line for the Philly OC and that creates a dilemma for a coach that is being considered for a promotion in the same city and another one that he'd have to move to. Staying in Philly where the team is MUCH better and they might get to call plays is probably pretty attractive.

Dude, you're just wrong and tried to sneak a snarky comment in about the people that had concerns about the delay in hiring coaches, including the head coach. We were last by weeks and the other teams were already filling their staffs from the pool of available coaches before we hired the head coach. That makes our pool smaller and that is a fact. And I didn't say it was a negative that we were interviewing the people we were interviewing. You're just saying I said that.

You must be struggling to remember what I actually said in that 'snark', as your attempts to defend all the negativity fail to address it's facts:-

Are all the good coaches gone? No.

Why are we lining up multiple candidates for key positions, that are being roundly praised, if all the good coaches are gone? Because they aren't all gone.

It's not hard. Unless you're addicted to being negative (sometimes referred to as 'finding fault' by people who know how to use words that link to concepts) and/or obtuse.

You've self-certified as one or both I guess, so there's that at least.

There have also been reports that guys were offered jobs at other teams but turned them down in anticipation of joining Kellen here. We just have to get the OC,DC hires done then you will see the flurry of position coaches come in.
