And that's the thing. If you do this, you can accumulate a lot of good talent on the team. You have to pick the right people though. It's a damn sound strategy if you're doing a good job evaluating talent. You know like adding guys like Zach Baun and Chauncey Gardener Johnson. The strategy didn't fail the Saints, the implementation of the strategy did. Now the Saints have to shed these contracts to undeserving players, but they can do so while adding contracts to better players. It wasn't the philosophy that caused the Saints issues. It's giving contracts extensions to Taysom, Carr, Jordan, etc. instead of the young talented players like Barkley. Want a snapshot? The Eagles parted ways with their star CB, 6x probowler Darisu Slay. Dennis Allen would have extended him. That was the problem.

Good for him, he was far and away the MVP last year, proving once again the NFL MVP selection is a joke....

He's way more than your typical RB, he is a leader in the locker room as well, he made a huge difference on an Eagle team that had literally collapsed the year before....

The Eagles have historically been the team known for heavily backloading contracts. What makes Loomis’ recent strategy unique is the heavy use of restructuring bonuses to stay below the cap, while the Eagles “pre-restructure” key contracts with option bonuses.

The market is shifting and so is the game. Only Burrow had the stats this year that'd we regularly see from Brees, Brady, Manning and Rodgers. Teams are becoming more much more balanced and run heavy to combat defenses designed to stop the pass.

Henry had 1500+ yards in 4 out of his last 6 seasons. It's possible for Barkley to keep on producing.
