I feel this guy has the makings of a solid player-his exceptional ST play will most likely allow him to make the team but I'm excited about him as a pass rush specialist....he will not be an every down backer obviously but this guy can get after the quarterback-18 TFL and 8.5 sacks and that was in his first year at DE....I believe he started out as 4-3 OLB. The thing I like about him is his mean streak-plays with lots of emotion and is a flat out thumper who will light you up!

reminds me of Dunbar with those hits, hope the coaches realize what they have this time

Other than that one big special teams hit Dunbarr made as a rookie he wasn't what I would call a hard hitter.

If anyone I would say the way Martin hits is more reminiscent of Vaughn Johnson.

Man I miss Dunbar, he was a very good defender for us and hit like a truck

Eric Martin set LSU’s all-time career receiving records before a 10-year NFL career, nine with New Orleans, highlighted by a Pro Bowl season in 1988. At LSU, was chosen as a member of the “Modern Day Team of the Century” in conjunction with the football program’s centennial in 1993. For the Tigers, He led the team in receiving in his last three seasons. In his junior year, he caught 52 passes for 1,064 yards and 5 TDs, earning Sporting News All-America honors and LSU’s Offensive MVP award. He twice made All-SEC.

if he makes the team, he is definitely going to have to go by a nickname for us old timers. I too thought this was going to be a where are they now thread.

His nickname in high school and college was "Caveman".

Said it when we we first nabbed him. I think Eric Martin will be this years camp beast. I think he's the best UDFA we signed. I like Chase Thomas a lot, but Eric Martin has a world more in upside potential. I remember watching Nebraska games last year, and he was by far, the best D player they fielded. He reminds me of Dumervil. The guys mean, nasty, and gets in opponents heads. I love his swag! He's a straight villain on the field. He's my favorite UDFA, and I think he's the best pure pass rusher we got from this years draft. Even better than our 6th RDer Rufus Johnson, in my opinion.
