And likely still won’t have space to to operate during the regular season. Teams generally need at least $10M to replace players on IR/PUP and practice squad costs.

It won't happen , you just leave DC's contract alone and you have to restructure more than half the team , including DD Mathieu and players that we would rather let their contracts run out due to age and productivity

If only the Saints had more wins relative to the excitement of Mickey simply complying with the league rules.

But underneath the annual hype party, the best news about McCoy's contract is that it's a good, well-structured contract, with flexibility. The dead caps will only rise incrementally (good), there's decent cap savings were anything to cause his release, and we just need him to play 3 more seasons to pretty much exhaust the financial commitments, which is very doable.

They won't restructure any of the aging vets, at least they shouldn't.

That would push dead money into the future, when they aren't even here anymore.
