Jimi was probably the better guitarist, but I’d give Prince the overall nod as a musician.

Jimi was one of the greatest rhythm guitar players in history.

Prince was a talented musician but was actually a better songwriter (and that is a compliment)....Jimi changed the way people looked at playing the guitar and also wrote IMO better songs than Prince.....

Jimi was a true innovator and a totally organic player (he didn't read music, much like SRV)....I'm sorry, I like Prince and don't deny he was uber talented but he wasn't in the same universe as Jimi Hendrix IMO as a guitar player or song writer.....just my opinion, others will likely vary.....

I didnt think anyone or a few would say Prince. And here it is the 2nd post. I still think he's underrated (on guitar).

Especially when you consider he'd then get on live drums or a beat machine and massacre that too. I once listened to "Darling Nikki" for an hour straight.

Truly one of the greatest all-around musicians to ever walk the earth.

I have Prince among the top guitarists as well. He did everything great from song writing to performance, but, his NEWS album confirmed to me that his guitar playing was top shelf.

Here's a little bit of music and movie trivia:

The guitar that Randy Rhoads is playing in this picture (at the very bottom left of the picture) is a Gibson ES-345.
That guitar belonged to a good friend of his by the name of John Thomas (who was the guitar player in an English band by the name of Budgie)
That very same guitar that Randy is playing in that picture is the very same guitar that Michael J Fox would play in the Movie Back To The Future years later!
