I suspect there is a writer who is either from NOLA or loves NOLA. I've noticed a bunch of Louisiana-based questions have been popping up this season from time to time more than it seems used to.

Well, that didn't take long. First guy on the list, John Duarte ....

The answer was Atchafalaya one day, we're acting like a couple of geniuses because none of them knew it.
It was probably the only answer I knew but....

Negativeā€¦team didnā€™t get its name until January of 1967.

Revisiting this post. Saying it out loud, it never dawned on me just how quickly in the 60s that a city could be awarded a franchise and the team would be actually playing the very next year. Thatā€™s crazy. Talk about lack of preparation time. We were set up for failure from the get-go. šŸ˜‚
 
For sure. The mismanagement at the ownership level was spectacularly poor, and it probably resulted to a significant degree from not being properly prepared.
