I agree the wording is a little wonky - which is a complaint I have with final Jeopardy answers occasionally.

Sometimes I’ll read the final answer and have to pause the tv to drill down to what the response is even implying.

I have to assume they didn’t want to outright say, if you know what November 1st is, you know the answer. So they intentionally made it a little vague.

Also, I suppose they wanted to highlight that the name specifically came from when the franchise was awarded.

But to your point, yes - it’s a weird wording.
