Some of you have been living in the area for quite some time and have been fans since the beginning. I've been a fan since I cared about football (since I was about 10)...so about 18 years now. My dad grew up in the lower ninth in the 50's/60's and I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. When I was 22, I moved to Shreveport for graduate school. I got my PhD and moved to Slidell at the end of August. Before I moved to LA, I went to 2 Saints games, both at home because we visited my grandmother for the holidays: vs. Bills 1998, vs. Cowboys 1999. While in Shreveport I only ever saw this years preseason game. The point is, I've never really had a chance to go to games before and I certainly never had a chance to see players in public.

Anyway, here's a pic from my cell phone camera.

I went to Best Buy on Veterans to buy a CD and noticed a lot of traffic, people in the store, TVs were set up, chairs were set up, etc. I heard some sort of presentation but thought it was some sort of video game competition (Guitar Hero maybe). I'm in the aisle right next to where all this is going on...I hear applause, and then hear a guy talking and I'm like...wait a sec...that voice is familiar. About 10-15 feet away from me...only separated by the aisle...is Deuce...I nearly pooped my pants...he had been sitting and had stood up and apparently started a question/answer session prior to Best Buy showing Monday Night football....he even made eye contact with me when he saw me turn around to see...lol. Apparently I missed the autograph session or it was after the game. Anyway, it was awesome, especially since I've been a fan for nearly 20 years and just moved here a few months ago. I'm sure many of you had such moments..I just wanted to share mine. After 20+ years growing up 90 minutes from Philly...I feel much more at home!

My favorite comment he made while I listened for about 10 minutes: SOmeone asked him how he likes Drew and he said that Drew plays with fire and passion and he doesnt like to make mistakes...he said "Drew isn't the kind of guy who will sit on the sidelines after a mistake and smile..." I loved it.

Congrats, thanks for sharing!! You were sure in the right place at the right time!

awesome!!! I love that comment

LOL @ that pic. To tell you the truth it kinda looks like Will Smith.

The other two guys are people who work at Best Buy that introduced him...and of course Deuce is on the TVs in the back too.

What kind of person would smile after making a mistake? :D j/k Love the comment though. I never forget when I found out a former player had moved in next door to me. I was in shock. It was actually Halloween night that i found out. My mother had talked with them and had actually agreed to babysit for them so him and his wife could go out that night. When I got home they had still not brought their child over. When he walked into the house...now I am a big guy, but he was big and tall. I think for the first time in my life I was speechless. Later on I ended up going with him to some of the alumni festivities they had that season. Its was funny because when I went to the hall of fame with him they had all the players inside for awhile signing autographs....I was just watching and these two kids just walk up to me and ask for my autograph...it was so tempting:D Got to meet Mr. Benson, sit in the press box....definitely one of several all time Saints moments. I even got to meet Warren Moon after a seahawk game we had won.

Through this player I got to meet Buford Jordan(He was funny), John Fourcade, Dave Whitsell...all kind of players.

Cool experience....did you notice if he had any kind of limp?!? Was he able to cut around the dvd aisles with ease?!?!

;)

Pretty cool! I hope you did walk around there though :)

Yeah I did...but Deuce was just standing answering questions...maybe he wen t shopping afterwards by himself when they closed...I think he bought V for Vendetta but I may be wrong...lol

I had seen Jake Delhomme at Best Best Buy a few years back when he was still playing for us. He was wearing an all Saints jump suit thing and he was buying an Xbox game. No, crowds of people applauding though
