Why didn't they flex this game , as big as it is

cant remember what number it is but you are only allowed 5 or 6 prime time games per season.

if the number is 5 we have reached our limit.

if the number is 6  maybe they didnt want the same match up twice in three weeks

I think it was because Fox protected the game because they have the rights to show it.

This, Fox probably figured this would be a marquee match and really wanted to keep it. They were right.

Why it's not at least their "America's Game of the Week" I don't know. Do they normally do late games on the east coast. That's my best guess.

I think it is the America's Game of the Week, Aikman and Buck are doing it, and that's always the #1 game....even if most of the nation doesn't get it..lol

Fox only has a single game this week. The 3:25 national game is on CBS.

1. Three teams a year may appear six times. I think only Denver has hit six already.

2. The game protected by Fox for this week is (wait for it) Dallas-Washington. I know you're all stunned. :jpshakehead: But back when networks had to submit their lists of protected games, Carolina wasn't looking dangerous - they were probably 2-3 at the time.

So.. why not the Saints now? It's a repeat match-up, and more important (the way networks think), it's an NFC South repeat. If there were a 10-4 Giants vs. 10-4 Eagles rematch not protected by Fox, you better believe that would be flexed into Sunday night again, even if they'd played the previous Sunday night.

The week 17 flex will not be decided until after Sunday's games, and no games are protected. The leading contenders are PHI-DAL and CHI-GB, as either/both could be winner gets the division, loser stays home.

In a divisional series, the flex rules say that only one of the two games is allowed to be flexed. They already flexed the one two weeks ago because at the time it was a big game which means that this game was not going to be flexed. In hindsight, I'm sure they would have preferred to flex this game.

Might be fox's game of the week, but isn't getting much play outside of SE USA. Fox is in the backseat this week with a single header.

on the bright side....that CHI-PHI game might actually be a pretty decent game so at least we won't have to sit through a snooze fest.

That's part of it - at this point the Philly - Chicago game is a matchup of two division leaders.
