For anyone who says Carr is just a stat padder and don’t win: (25 Viewers)

….which I hear a lot. This is now 0-6 without him, 12.5, 195, and -6. You’re telling me there isn’t a huge difference between being .500+ instead of 0’fer? Yeah, he’s not DB9, but who is? Thats never gonna happen again.
He’s being compared to a 5th round rookie, he’s almost certainly going to be better.

Add in the games he’s gotten knocked out of…and I think we’re 1-11 in games he didn’t start and finish the past two years. With the 1 being the giants game where he left with under two minutes to go and a lead.

The biggest problem with Carr is he seems to get hurt a lot now.

Still won’t win a game on his own and will probably throw it out of bounds on the last play of the game on a go ahead drive. He is who he is. A middle of the pack(generous) QB, game manager. Nothing more than that. Good enough to keep the team mediocre and settle for a bad draft pick.

The amount of disrespect Carr gets by some of our fans is RIDICULOUS! Yes, he is not an Elite top 5 QB. Those are hard to come by. He is absolutely a better than average, top 15 QB, arguably top 10 when he has the supporting cast. So, he can't put the team on his back and carry to you a championship all by himself. Only a handful of QBs can actually do that. Anyone who think we are going to win more games without him than with him at this point is flat wrong. Maybe we will draft a QB who will take his job, maybe Rattler will grow into a Bonafide franchise QB, but with what is available to the Saints at the moment going into 2025, he is the best QB option we have.

If Derek Carr is the best QB option we have, we will never win the division, make the playoffs, or be relevant.

There is nothing wrong with Derek Carr, there never has been.....he's an above average starting QB that with a good team around him will make plays.....he really hasn't had that here......he is the best bridge QB we could have gotten at the time, he will probably be our starter next year under a new HC....I have zero problem with that....hopefully we get our future QB in the next few years.....While I think Rattler is still a possibility, not sold on him just yet, it would have been nice to see him with a healthy offense....

An elite offensive minded coach can make a playoff run with Carr. Similar to how Andy Reid kept making the playoffs with Alex Smith, but I think Carr can make bigger plays than Alex Smith giving Carr a better chance to make a deep playoff run in that scenario. He’s not perfect, but I’d take him over more than half of the league starting QB’s. I’m just not sure the Saints are going to be able to get much out of Carr given the coach and talent of the team.

I'll just say this regarding Carr. I think Carr is a solid QB, but I think his Wins/Losses are very deceiving this year compared with Rattler.

Derek Carr's record against teams over .500 this year is:

0-3 (Chiefs, Eagles, Rams)

Spencer Rattler's record against teams over .500 this year is:

0-4 (Bucs, Broncos, Chargers, Packers)

Derek Carr got us wins against the Giants (our defense held them to 11 points we scored 14 points), we easily beat the Browns, and we squeaked out a win against the Falcons holding them to 17 points (and lost to them once). These listed games all occurred while our team was decimated with injuries and are comparable to games Rattler has played in with lackluster supporting cast. During this run of games we also lost to the Panthers once with Carr starting at QB.

It's hard to even include the first 2 games of the season vs the Panthers and Cowboys given how much different our team looked in those games with the players that were healthy and available.

I do think Carr is still "the best QB" on the roster currently, but I'm not sure that will be the case long term. Rattler has shown some real nice glimpses of his potential at times and has played some really good halves of football (1st half vs Bucs, 2nd half vs Commanders, and 1st half vs Raiders were all excellent), but hasn't put together a full game (yet). I just can't help but think if our defense was playing at a higher level like in past years or if we had reliable weapons on offense, that the narrative on Rattler wouldn't be more positive right now from many in the fan base. I'm excited to see if he can continue to develop going into next season.

A career winning percentage below .500 is not what I would call above average, In fact it’s slightly below average. Add in to it his sideline demeanor / decision making and I wouldn’t say we ever have a chance to hit the post season with him. And if that’s the case, then we need to move on, and fast.

How many playoff appearances has he had in his career?

Carr isn’t the problem and never has been. Injury decimation at the skill positions has been the problem. Lack of quality depth is the problem. Up until this season, a poor offensive coordinator has been the problem. An offensive line that’s decimated by injury has been the problem. Of course he’s getting hurt behind this line. Last year he was injured most of the season but even with a terrible OC and game plan, played really well once he finally started to get healthy.
