He's the only priority free agent; everyone else is replaceable and should be replaced by fringe players who have familiarity with the new defensive system, and we use the draft to add the rookie archetypes on offense and defense.Adebo should be a priority sign, a 4-year deal.
It's a fair point.that's true, but the bigger impediment (perhaps blessing in disguise?) will be the "loss of familiarity" with coaching that had a promise of continuity with playing time opportunity. guys that believed, or were told, they were inline for bigger roles....have lost that "perceived platform" and will be starting from zero with new coaches and new scheme. in years past, that might have been enough to "tip the domino" in favor of staying the course with the Saints org. THIS year, that domino may tip the other way.
I wouldn't be surprised to lose more guys than usual because of this. Truth be told though....I'm not sure it's a bad thing. I want the "hungry guys" to stick around, and a level playing field with everyone starting from scratch is more conducive to that, IMO. In years past, the "hungry guys" were more likely to go somewhere else to get their opportunity, rather than be stuck by entrenched starter who is a coach favorite. THIS year, that opportunity is HERE!
