This is a link to a mock draft espn.com that normally can be seen only if you are an insider subscriber. I would not have taken it from espn on normal circumstances but since it is a free preview i figure it would be ok this time.

As far as the Kieth rivers pick, im not sure i would agree with him. Although this was probably done before the Vilma pick-up. If I had anything to do with the saints draft this year knowing that we got Vilma, i would do one of a few things. Either take the best possible corner due to the lack of depth in the corner position from FA, try and trade down to the mid to lower half of the 1st round. With that pick there should still be one of the top 3 cb's to pick from. Use the other picks that we acquired to scrounge up some of the better dt, lb, and fill-ins that we need. Another option would be trading up, although giving up more than i would want to do so, but maybe getting one of the stub dt's or de. Gholston, ellis, and dorsey are who i had in mind.

Do any of you agree with me or am i way off in my thoughts. I have an open mind.

Even more than that is the fact the Bengals traded for Rogers from the linos, and this guy has them taking Ellis, if they are switching to 3-4 I don't think Ellis is a good choice for them.

They have our record as 6-9.

Wouldn't that mean we should be drafting higher?

I think Rivers is a great pickup in the first round considering that he is projected at OLB. Fujita Vilma and Rivers is possibly the best LB group the Saints have had since.....well, you know.

I say that especially since there aren't supposed to be any Cb's worth a top ten pick in the draft. Rivers could have a bigger impact on the defense than a CB at #10.
Of course that only works if the Saints do something at CB in free agency. But I still don't see who at CB is worth the #10 pick....and Rivers is supposed to be stupid good. He would take Shanles spot btw.

you're right. having one of the three i listed above slip down to us at 10 would be ideal.
