This is a smart move if they end up somehow getting Ward, they’ll be able to let him sit a year even if Wilson gets injured or there’s a QB circus between Wilson and Winston.

Winston has $4 million guaranteed.

After Wilson and Winston’s cap hits are counted, Giants cap space will go from 17 million to about $10 million. Then their draft picks will take them down to around $3 million. They’ll probably sign a couple more FAs. They won’t be able to afford to cut Jameis this year. Both QBs are locked in on their roster in ‘25.
