Didn't see this name on here? What are ya'll thoughts on him, besides being a top 5 safety and will demand BIG $$$$? Wow there is some talent being thrown around.
Not according to NFL Network about an hour ago. Said he'll be bringing up the amount safeties have been making the last couple of years. No mention of $$$ specifically demanded, but they said it'll be up there. No potential suitors were mentioned either.
i heard he was a lock for the raiders, which makes me question his intelligence since the raiders are a complete mess of an organization. makes it obvious when some would rather the money than another chance to win it all
An all-night negotiations session with the Minnesota Vikings produced a deal that has made Madieu Williams a formal Bengal and now one of the highest-paid safeties in the NFL.
Williams, 26, agreed to a six-year, $33 million contract Friday morning after his agent, Ken Zuckerman, and Minnesota officials worked through the night to get a deal done.
That is ridiculous money for an above average but not great safety. I would expect Wilson to be looking at a similar deal. I'd pass unless he hangs around for a while like Ken Hamlin did last year (we had him in and passed). As for questioning him for going to the Raiders. These guys are looking for financial security. He has a ring (something Dan Marino and many other hall of famers never got) and the landscape can change so quickly it's untrue. I doubt many people when Kiwaka Mitchell signed for the NY Giants he was going to a legitimate superbowl contender. Yet if someone had come to the Saints or Bears looking for a ring it would have been seen as looking to sign for a contender. When Scott Fujita signed for us people may have thought he was going into a hole in New Orleans, a team who had just picked 2nd yet he ends up one game away from a superbowl. In my book unless you sign for the Patriots, Colts or Chargers there are no guarantees you're signing for a contender
Someone familiar with the situation tells Newsday that free agent S Gibril Wilson is expected to sign a deal with the Raiders.
The deal would be for $6-6.5 million a year, more than he was initially said to be seeking. Wilson had an inconsistent run in New York, where he often flashed big-hitting skills with inconsistent coverage ability. Michael Huff, if he stays, will probably move to free safety but that's just speculation on our part.
