One of the best hacks ive ever discovered, not just in re to holidays, but in re to life- is every year for the last 15 or 20 yrs i always make a trip to the Dollar Tree or 99 Cents Only store in early December , and i stock up on about $25 worth of gift bags and paper to stuff them with… but you have to go in early December or they run out, and they especially run out of the huge gift bags that are the size of a coffee table, which are useful for giving large gifts to kids …. I would never want to attempt to wrap a gift, and id never wanna give a gift to anyone that had been wrapped by me .
Good choice. I wouldn’t trust you to handle a pair of scissors.

I, for one, would rather rip paper off of a crappy wrap job than pull a gift out of a gift bag any day.
The problem is that those with turdly wrapping skills use miles of tape which makes unwrapping an adventure

So I was up this morning wrapping gifts (I'm the only one up early in my house, so it's the best time) and I was thinking about this thread, and I decided a few things.

No ribbon. It's a pain to put on, it makes things harder to open (note: exceptions allowed here in the event that is a desired effect), and it's usually bad for the environment.
About the environment - that's one of the big reasons wrapping annoys me anyway (and the consumerism of Christmas in general). Just generating a sheetload of trash for the landfills.
And knowing that it's all going to landfill inspired me fewer to do a good job. I have some terrible wrap jobs.
In fact to further my support of the environment, I used some of the trimmed off small pieces to wrap other gifts. Yeah it uses a little more tape, but you have the benefit of them looking terrible and saving the planet.
And I marked them all from Santa (and gave some gifts to myself for deniability), so I can blame him

The nephews aren't arriving from Chicago (48 hour delay) until this afternoon, so present opening has been delayed until this evening, which is also good because everyone will have had a few drinks by the time we get around to it. Also, since they are traveling, I got them a few heavy books to bring home with them, because that's how I roll.

Also, I put about 15 presents under the tree and you can't even tell the difference. My wife has gone insane.

Feel free to use any of these tips. No charge. Merry Christmas, y'all!!

We did all the gifting 2 weeks ago because of scheduling issues so we currently have empty boxes wrapped up lining the perimeter of the tree as a cat blocker. It's working like a charm.
We don't have the smartest cat. I'll throw them in the back closet and pull them back out next year.

Do you feed them in the back closet or is it like a rodent thing?
