Gleason retires (2 Viewers)

Damn, I was hoping to see him back blocking punts, but I can't argue with his decision for his health.

The man who is responsible for one of the greatest plays in New Orleans Saints history. It comes as a surprise but I'm glad he retired a Saint!

You of course are referring to the kneeling uppercut against the Panthers, correct? :smilielol:

As beloved as he is among us Saints fans, is there any chance he makes it to the Saints HoF? For sure, the blocked punt will be enshrined in the Saints Hof, but will he as a player?

This sucks .... he has been one of my favorite players since the 1st time seeing him running wild on special teams. At least he knew when to walk away before he wouldn't be able to do so. I'll never forget his block in the reopening of the dome and screaming that's my boy at the top of lungs after figuring out that it was him. Thanks for the momories

All thanks to Gleason for providing one of the all-time greatest moments in sports history that I was able to witness live; actually, probably the greatest I've seen in person. I can still hear the deafening noise in the dome from that night...
Three cheers for Gleason!!!!!!! Give him his Black & Gold watch!

This guy epitomizes what you can do if you can hustle and be a team player...never thought Gleason would be a 7 or 8 year guy in the league.

I highly, highly recommend that everyone on this thread read this article about Gleason and his connection with the City. It is a terrific read and one of my favorite articles of all time.

He once wore cargo shorts to a formal wedding and attended a Varisco family Christmas dinner at Galatoire's in a plaid sport coat, Captain America T-shirt and blue sweat pants.

Before he donated his bike to a local priest, he could be seen pedaling Uptown streets in one of his old Saints helmets with the chinstrap buckled and the facemask removed.
