I know that many people have pretty much written off home-field advantage as being a possibility........butttttt ..

If the Seahawks win their last two (Rams and Niners).......and the Bears pull an upset against the Packers in week 17,...... Along with the Saints handling their own business...

Doesn't that give us the same three-way tiebreaker scenario we were counting on before to have the #1 seed?

And before anyone says "we don't need to worry about the 1 seed anymore"......... I'm not worrying about it, I'm simply saying there is still a path.....and one that isn't as unrealistic as we may think.

The Bears are still currently fighting for a playoff spot, but even if that doesn't pan out, I would like to think we're going to get max effort out of them against the Packers regardless, particularly since it is a home game and considering how embarrassing their last game went against the Packers..

Yes, looks like it according to ESPN Playoff sim

I just don't like the fact that we will likely have to play out these last 2 games instead of getting a week or 2 of rest. Saints and Packers play at the same time in week 17. Seahawks play after. So we could go full-speed against the panthers, win, and not gain anything. If we beat the Vikings and wrap up the divison, I'd be tempted to call it. Sit Brees and whoever else is battling injury and hope we can still pull off a win. I think this team travels well so 2nd or 3rd seed isn't that important imo. I like this team on the tougher road.

at this point id rather we win and seahawks lose this week because then we have 2 seed locked up and we can rest starters final week

But if the Packers lose to the Titans then Saints still could be the #1 seed depending on Week 17 Packers @ Bears...

Bears are playing better. I would give them a ~40% chance if they are still playing for a playoff spot. So OP, we also need to root against Arizona.

False. If the Bears beat the Packers in week 17 and both ourselves and the Seahawks win out, we win that 3-way tie. A Packers loss to the Bears would give us a better conference record.
I had edited my post. I think the scenario I had looked at was them losing to the Titans which wouldn't affect the conference record.

But still....we are splitting hairs. We know what happens when we bank on another team trying to help us out.

I'm aware of how it usually goes, but I felt it was good to at least point out that it won't exactly take a "2007 LSU" series of events to go our way.

The Saints winning their final two games, Seattle winning their final two games, and the Packers being upset by their most hated division rival in the final week of the season wouldn't be the most outlandish thing ever.

Nor is the Saints winning their final two and the Packers losing their final two, if Seattle falters. Titans won't be an easy game for them when Tennessee is trying to secure their divisional title/fend off Indy.

It’s not so much that I’ve given in, I’m just over hoping for help after the last few years. I know the Bears could win but I think it’s highly unlikely

Yep. Every year we go through this and hope that some team rises to the occasion to help our playoff chances and it never happens.

First, I want a win Friday to take the division. After that, I'll be interested in scenarios that could land us the #1 seed. It's probably a long shot at this point so I won't set my expectations too high.
I am with you Saint B.
