I'd rather have subtitles than dubbing.

i concur with an exception; some dubbed movies are so hilariously bad, you have to listen. pretty much anything on shudder.I'd rather have subtitles than dubbing.
I believe it crossed 80 million global sales. Made on a tiny budget. Toho I think will make a sequel.Brought the family to see this New Years eve and we all loved it. The movie on it's own was outstanding, fun and even moving at times and I was surprised that it tugged at the tear ducts as much as it did. As a kid who used to love watching all the old Godzilla movies, the nostalgia put this one over the top. When Godzilla first appeared and I saw that he was modeled after the original, when the suspense theme music hit, even the scenes of destruction... The ship flying across the harbor, the tail swipes, the reporting crew filming as if it were just a show and the homage scene with the transit car dangling from his jaws. It all brought me back to my childhood, but still made it new & fresh.

I still need to purchase an Apple TV trial to watch the Monarch series.
And then Godzilla X Kong.
We Godzilla fans are eating real good
The reported budget is $15 million but the director has implied it was even less than that. This thing is a major success for Toho.
And yeah, we're in an absolute Godzilla golden era right now. We're getting the more serious stuff from Japan and the more fun and pulpy monsterverse stuff here. Very good time to be a Godzilla fan.
i watched Monarch and loved it.
Growing up as a young teen in the 80s, Sunday mornings were always Godzilla vs Rodan or Mothra or some other beast. Loved the cheeky effects with Japanese tanks shooting at him lol.
Shoot that put me on UltraMan too.
You should definitely see -1 good storylines and acting. What I love about the Japanese versions is Godzilla is a monster, and is destructive. I can't stand these American one's where Godzilla is helping us. Kick rocks.I made the mistake of jumping into the Monsterverse with G:KotM. Oh man, the kaiju fights were cool (when I could see what was happening) but the people were SO STUPID. Even Showa-era “Godzilla is the friend of all children” characters weren’t that dumb.
I watched Godzilla 2014 for the first time the other day, and while a lot better, the lead character was so dull. Bryan Cranston’s character was so much more compelling but of course they had to kill him in the second act. But it also made KotM retroactively worse because at least the character motivations in Gareth Edwards’ movie made more sense.
Anyway, my family has pretty much banned me from watching Godzilla movies when they’re around, so I probably won’t see G -1 for a while.
