Good win for Saints and a bad loss for Atlanta, But there’s still some issues... (1 Viewer)

Offensive Play calling after the 1st half got too conservative. We didn’t take another deep shot until that last play that AK dropped and we went back to running AK in the A&B gaps up the middle.

The play calling in the first half was imaginative and different, then after half we went back into play not to lose mode.
SMH do you realize that none of our WR's would be starting on a BAD team in the NFL? We are still missing our starting C and were missing our starting LT for a portion of the game. We also had multiple drive killing penalties that affected playcalling

I will enjoy the win but I have my criticism. I can understand injuries to certain groups on the team but that defensive line continue to perform very poorly. There shouldn't be any excuse in that area where all of the players on that line is pretty much healthy. Up till the their last drive, that line struggles to create good pressure or sacks. Running lane are open and players are not filling those gaps. None of our guys are winning one on one matches.
When healthy the weakest part of the team we all knew was the DL , both in pass rush and run stopping. We had some hope with the signing of Young and how he looked in TC but for whatever reason his TC hype did not live up to it. What most people though was going to be a big liability , the OL was not bad at all when healthy.

I do understand all that, but we started the game the same way except for Fuaga going out for a little bit. Our first 2-3 possessions, the play calling was very good, different, and kept ATL on their heels. Then after half it was run up the middle or swing passes and obvious passing play on 3rd down.

In the 1st half ATL was playing single high , in the 2nd they played 2 high that cuts out a lot of shot plays. They also blitzed more putting more pressure on DC PLUS we had multiple drive killing penalties

Can’t overuse him, Taysom is 34. Everytime we’ve tried to lean on him heavily we’ve got to put him in the shop for a few weeks.
Got to use him a little more than we did, though, if for no other reason than to make him an effective decoy on plays we’re he’s not going to get the ball. The offense was totally predictable and stale in the 2nd half. Looked like a Carmichael redux, even though both he and Allen are gone.

Penalties.

Pass rush.

Run defense.

Get those things fixed and the team could play with most teams in the league. Detroit, KC, Ravens being the outliers.

The offense is depleted. The fact that Carr scored two TD’s to MVS was impressive. Can’t expect this team to score 30pts.

Even though DA is gone the team will struggle to win many games and I think they won this game because they had a little extra umph this week, but it won’t be there next week.

That's because the Falcons adjusted and played a deep cover 2 in the second half.

The Falcons last two possessions didn't look like the Saints went into "playing not to lose" mode.

The front 4 brought some heat on Cousins and it paid off huge in not just sacks but batted passes as well.

We all know that the season is lost at this point but there was an intensity today that had been missing for a very long time.
Your post made me realize something else as well….the defense made the stop at the end. I am not at all used to seeing that when DA was running the defense….
