Brent St. Germain / Houma Courier

Roger Goodell has been NFL commissioner for less than a year, but he is already leaving a lasting impression.

Goodell is doing something that was desperately needed in the league. He is making players accountable for their actions off the field.

Since taking over, Goodell has handed down numerous suspensions and fines for players’ misconduct off the field.

The NFL had a personal conduct policy in place for a number of years, but it was rarely implemented. Full Story - Courier

This is a good article. But I think it fails to give the appropriate credit to the NFLPA for it's leadership in coordinating with the Commissioner's office to refine the player conduct landscape of the NFL. Goodell has done a great job with it. But this would be a mess if the players, through the union, hadn't also stepped up and agreed that they weren't going to tolerate the "bad apples" anymore. I think they deserve some credit too - this isn't all just Goodell being the "new sheriff in town."
