Anyhow.... Just always have liked that movie. Super smart guy that doesn't fit the mold of smart people. Friends that are willing to do anything for each another. Kid who grew up in a bad situation that made it out. All that type stuff.

Yes the boy is the one who sacrifices (it’s almost always the girl)
In fact in both stories the guy sidesteps manly stuff (baseball game or manual labor) for the girl
